I would like to enroll more than one of my children. Is this possible?
Absolutely! Please contact us to discuss discounted rates for families desiring to enroll multiple children.

May I drop off my child/ren early or pick them up later on certain days?
We are open to negotiating times on an individual basis. However, please keep in mind that we are a micro-school, we might not be able to accommodate every schedule request.

My child is slightly beyond the age limit. Is this an issue?
At OWLS, we believe children can learn alongside both younger and older classmates. We see no benefit in arbitrarily separating learners by age. We may be able to accommodate slightly older or younger children. This environment can be particularly beneficial for easing young learners into a school setting or if a child desires to regain their spark for learning. Please contact us to discuss these options on an individual basis.

Is Original Wisdom Laboratory School accredited?
Currently, we are not accredited. Please let us know if this is something you would like to support in the future.

I reside outside of Stillwater, may my child still attend OWLS?
Absolutely! Since we are a private microschool, we do not follow governmental zoning restrictions concerning enrollment.

Is OWLS part of a chain or franchise?
Original Wisdom Laboratory School is an independent, private microschool, free to follow its own methods while working closely with parents in the Stillwater, Oklahoma community.

How is Original Wisdom Laboratory School funded?
OWLS is an independent, private microschool. We do not receive any state or federal funds. All funds are generated through enrollment fees. We will not request additional funding from parents beyond enrollment fees. Please contact Jessica Turcat if you desire to sponsor a child's learning experience or would like to make a donation.

Are parents able to visit their child/ren throughout the day?
OWLS works closely with parents. To ensure the safety of all learners, any visitor will need to sign in and out when on the property. However, parents are always welcome to join us for lunch as well as respectfully observe lessons or free play.

My family is planning a trip. Is it okay if my child skips days?
At OWLS, we do not have an attendance policy. We understand the importance of family time. Your child will be able to seamlessly resume their educational journey when they return. Please note: OWLS Academic Summer Studios operate of a weekly basis/ weekly rates apply.

My child is falling behind in public school. Can a learning guide provide homework and review common core curriculum?
We understand the desire to support your child's education. However, our lessons do not necessarily correspond with the criteria set forth by standardized assessments. We believe children learn best when allowed to pursue their own interests and that common core abilities (reading, writing, math, etc.) will strengthen organically when a learner's imagination is allowed to flourish. The heart of our educational approach is to prepare young learners, not for school, but for life.

We home educate, but we like to supplement. What can OWLS offer?
We fully support various forms of education and life-long learning, and we are always looking for ways to work in harmony with parents! Our Academic Summer Studio may be a perfect fit! Please let us know if you would like your child to complete a learning portfolio or Charlotte Mason-style notebook for assessment purposes.

My child has difficulty paying attention and gets distracted easily. Will this be an issue?
Original Wisdom Laboratory School is purposefully structured to accommodate a wide range of learners. While we recognize our approach might not be the best fit for everyone, we know that the majority of young learners need to move around and perhaps experience heightened anxiety when restricted. At OWLS learners are free to focus on what sparks their curiosity. OWLS might provide the perfect balance of sensory stimuli as your child learns life-long skills.

Is OWLS a religious school?
Original Wisdom Laboratory School is not a parochial school. We welcome learners of all backgrounds and faiths and cultures.

Will my child/ren fit in at OWLS?
OWLS Academic Summer Studio offers the perfect opportunity to see how your child thrives over several weeks! Our learning guides are trained to mindfully facilitate a strong sense of community amongst our young learners. When not competing over arbitrary rankings, we find that learners naturally bond over shared interests and the thrill of pursuing common passions.
